Here are the top five movies from the past weekend:
1. Frozen – $20.7 million
2. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones — $18.2 million
3. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – $16.3 million
4. The Wolf of Wall Street — $13.4 million
5. American Hustle – $13.2 million
Frozen has surprised many people up to this point. It has grossed over $638.7 million dollars on a $150 million dollar budget. It has reclaimed the top spot after falling to second last weekend. Coming in second was the new Paranormal Activity movie debuting at $18.2 million dollars with a astounding $5 million dollar budget. Safe to say Paramount will keep turning these movies out for awhile, especially with these profit margins. Falling two spots to the number three slot is The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It has now sold over $756 million dollars worth of tickets worldwide. Rounding out the top five are The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle. Both of these movies are long, but they are two of the best movies made in 2013. In my opinion, Wolf of Wall Street was just as funny, if not funnier, than the original Hangover movie.
